Workshop Details

Da Nang and Dien Ban

There are four separate workshops as part of the Towards Peace initiative, all focusing on traditional printmaking and cross-cultural collaboration. The first 2 workshops will take place in Da Nang from July 7–15, followed by the second 2 in Dien Ban from July 17–26. While held in different locations, both workshops share the same creative goals and will contribute artworks to a joint public exhibition in Da Nang in early August, celebrating the shared experiences and cultural dialogue fostered throughout the program

These immersive 5-day workshop will run daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Participants will begin by learning about the history and cultural significance of Dong Ho paintings, followed by hands-on sessions in design development, woodblock carving, and traditional printing using rice paper and natural inks. The workshop includes group discussions, personalized feedback, and time to refine each participant’s creative work. A translator will be provided throughout the workshop, so everyone is welcome to join—regardless of English language ability. The final days will focus on preparing and presenting completed prints, with the opportunity to contribute a piece to the public exhibition in Da Nang during the first week of August.
